2021 Speakers

Sakinah Hofler

Writer & Professor, Loyola University New Orleans

Sakinah Hofler is a fiction writer poet, and playwright. She has won the Manchester Fiction Prize, the Hurston/Wright Award for College Writers, the Sherwood Anderson Award for Fiction, and the Yemassee Poetry Prize. Her work has received support from the P.E.O. Scholar Award, the Taft Research Center, and the Albert C. Yates Fellowship, among others. A former chemical engineer and product assurance engineer for the United States Department of Defense, Sakinah Hofler is currently a visiting assistant professor at Loyola University New Orleans where she teaches creative writing and literature with an emphasis on social change. She’s an advocate for infusing the arts into our daily lives.
