Description

Learn how to build fast and resilient Spring Boot applications by harnessing the power of distributed caching with VMware Tanzu GemFire. Apply Spring Data patterns to combine simple and secure data access with low latency and strong consistency.

This workshop explores the use of Tanzu GemFire for fast access to application data with strong consistency and high availability. You’ll walk away from this interactive, hands-on session having built a fully baked Spring Boot application demonstrating caching patterns for data access.

Along the way you’ll learn how to:

  • Install and setup Tanzu GemFire on your development system.
  • Use Tanzu GemFire concepts like Clusters, Regions, Querying, Functions, and Transactions.
  • Apply NoSQL design patterns for accessing data from legacy systems.
  • Optimize CPU and storage costs using caching to reduce carbon emissions.
  • Leverage compute grids to parallelize data operations with Functions.
  • Write event-driven applications using Continuous Queries and client caching.
  • Add reliability and fast recovery to your caching applications with persistent data.

Prerequisites

  • Latest version of Chrome, Firefox, or Edge
  • Advanced Java development and Spring Boot expertise
  • Basic container and Kubernetes skills
